About the Fund
The Davin Moxsom Rugby Scholarship is awarded to a high school rugby team member from Dartmouth who best represents the qualities that Davin Moxsom brought to the sport of rugby in Nova Scotia.
Davin valued the connections and friendships he made within the rugby community. Davin is described by all who knew him as a selfless, kind, generous person who valued teamwork, integrity and respect, both on and off the field. The recipient of this award should demonstrate Davin’s personal qualities and involvement in the sport of rugby.
To be eligible for this award, applicants must be a Grade 12 student enrolled in a high school in Dartmouth and must be a member of one of the high school rugby teams. The applicant must be planning to attend a post-secondary university or community college.
Selection Criteria
This scholarship will be judged on the following:
- Community involvement
- Academic standing
- Dedication to the sport of rugby in Nova Scotia
- Financial need
Selection Process
Eligible applicants will be reviewed and chosen by a committee comprised of at least five people; one coach of the Dartmouth High School Rugby team, two members of the family of Davin Moxsom and two other members, in accordance with the eligibility criteria described above. The Community Foundation of Nova Scotia shall provide an oversight role in ensuring that the eligibility and selection criteria are met. The award will be presented to the successful recipient by the family of Davin Moxsom at the students’ high school graduation ceremony.
Application Requirements
- A list of involvement in the community, such as church groups, volunteer work, sports teams or competitive/leadership roles, mentorship programs, other associations, and/or any other charitable involvement. Please provide a 500 word essay to expand on one community involvement experience.
- Most recent academic transcript
- Proof of registration at a post-secondary institution
- An explanation of financial need
